Paul Richardson

Paul first became involved in community outreach work in 1987 while serving as a pilot in the SA Air Force. The local church provided a unique opportunity to serve underprivileged communities in Khayalitsha, a township, near Cape Town.

It was many years later in 1998 when Paul and his family returned to Cape Town from the West Coast that another Church project attracted his attention. The focus of this attention was a small community at Fisantekraal just outside Durbanville. Paul and a group of friends joined forces to provide mainly medical relief to this impoverished community. He formed a non profit organisation, Won Life, which today continues to serve the residents in the areas of health care and education. The clinic constructed and run by Won Life serves to combat the spread of HIV/Aids in the fast growing community of some 18 000 inhabitants. The vision for a pre primary school has become a reality with the construction of a 600 square meter Early Learning Centre.

Paul, a SAA pilot, serves as the Chairman of our Board and visionary of Won Life. He has 2 daughters Gwyneth and Megan. Madalene, Paul’s wife who supported the work at Fisantekraal for many years passed away in 2005 after suffering from a brain tumour.
